Welcome to our update for the Kyrie/Piston litter in their fourth week in the world! Boy it seems like a lot more than four weeks, huh? They are getting big and are very playful and social at this age! Here are the weights at four weeks exactly:
Baker/Blue: 6 lbs 1.5 oz
Boomer/Red: 5 lbs 13.0 oz
Blazie/Pink: 5 lbs 11 oz
Belli/Purple: 5 lbs 10 oz
Brownie/Brown: 5 lb 9.5 oz
Bullet/White: 5 lbs 1.0 oz
The pups had a LOT of new experiences this week! They practiced standing on a grooming table, made great progress in eating softened solid food, and had two groups of visitors! Puppy people Frank and Lisa brought their three awesome kids to visit and socialize the puppies, and Zak's sister brought her family and three little girls! Below is Nina, age three, with Brownie. :)
The pups also got their first BATH! They were still small enough to be in the sink for it. Our friends Kristin and Jarrad helped out by drying off the pups and keeping them company in an indoor puppy preserve while they dried off. :) Jarrad and Kristin own Astra from our last litter, and they also help me in the whelping--bringing all of our Sparta pups into the world. Below you can see me washing Brownie, Bullet, and Blazie, Kristin drying Blazie, and a bunch of puppies trying to eat Jarrad's feet. ;)
The other big experience this week was that the pups got their first time OUTSIDE! Blazie: "Brownie, do you think it's safe out there?"
Belli: "I dunno, Bullet, Baker says it smells funny out there!"
Brownie: "I'm not afraid! You guys are sissies!"
Boomer: "Am NOT a sissy! Get over here and say that!"
And everyone's out...
Baker: "Hey Blazie, don't be shy, that green stuff looks like fun!"
Boomer: "Ooooo! It's soft! Can I eat it?" (The immediate question of any self-respecting four-week-old puppy upon encountering something new that is not scary is "Can I eat it?" by the way...)
Baker: "I CAN eat it! Hurray! I like grass!"
The black-and-silvers, Belli and Boomer, are a bit more suspicious...
